Rama Ekadashi 2025 Date & Timing
- Rama Ekadashi falls on 17th Friday, October, 2025
- The Ekadashi tithi begins on 16th October, Thursday at 10:35 AM and continues until 17th October, Friday at 11:12 AM.
- Since the tithi overlaps midnight, by the rules of Udaya Tithi (based on sunrise), the fast is observed on 17th October.
- The parana (breaking the fast) or paksha-parvan should be done on Saturday, 18th October between 6:24 AM and 8:41 AM.

Morning Purification & Dress
On the day of Ekadashi, wake up early, bathe, and wear clean clothes—traditionally white or yellow.
Preparing the Worship Place
Cleanse your prayer space, sprinkle Ganga water (or holy water), and set up idols or pictures of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi.
Offering & Worship
- Offer sandalwood (chandan), flowers, Tulsi leaves, incense (dhupa), and a lit lamp (deep).
- Recite the mantra “Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya” during the worship.
- Many also chant Vishnu Sahasranama (the thousand names of Vishnu) or Sri Suktam (a hymn to Goddess Lakshmi) as part of the ritual.
Fasting & Restrictions
- On Rama Ekadashi, avoid grains, onions, garlic, and mustard or pungent foods.
- Some keep a strict fast (nirjala or only water); others may take fruit or dairy depending on their tradition.
- In the evening, devotees may listen to or narrate the Rama Ekadashi story (katha).
Breaking the Fast
Next morning in the auspicious window (6:24 AM to 8:41 AM on 18 October), water is offered and the fast is broken.
